One Direction The Wanted new Twitter feud Wheatus - celebrity news

One Direction and The Wanted have caused controversy after reigniting their feud on Twitter.

The spat started after Tom Parker questioned why 1D keep making references to his band The Wanted on tour.

Louis Tomlinson then responded by tweeting a news story about Parker's former X Factor audition.

Liam Payne soon joined in, posting: "hey Tom lets talk about your singing, your amazing tone pierces my ears with every note :/ [sic]"

The argument then escalated like so:

Fans were quick to jump to their band's defence, and One Direction was soon trending on Twitter.

The Wanted's Jay McGuiness then chose to post a longer message aimed at Louis Tomlinson.

It read: "Dear @Louis_Tomlinson, please stop mentioning us in your gigs, we certainly no longer mention you and it's time to let dead dogs lie.

"Your passive-aggressive style of speaking makes me cringe, and I wish you'd either have the b*llocks of some of your co-workers to speak truthfully, or the class of the majority of them to be silent. "I'm not sure what's happened since we saw you at<span class="apple-converted-space"> The X Factor, but you've done a sterling job of becoming one of the most overrated, arrogant and not to mention insincere people around.<span class="apple-converted-space">

"Your shocking lack of talent will only be forgiven by lots of humility and no-strings-attached friendship among your band. Louis, don't measure your worth in followers or money, because they're fickle, and when they go you might just feel worthless." However, the disagreement has caused some controversy, mainly surrounding Tom Parker's decision to use the homophobic hashtag #itgetsbetter when eluding to Tomlinson's sexuality.

Wheatus, the band who wrote pop punk it Teenage Dirtbag, have seemingly (and rather randomly) waded in on the debate, sticking up for One Direction.

They posted on their band page:

"Homophobia is the ugliest kind of jealousy. #evil,"<span class="apple-converted-space"> they said.

"Too many young people are suffering the loneliest sadness & fear. Use of the #itgetsbetter hash tag in a hateful manner is unacceptable."

They continued: "Seriously guys don't accept that kinda talk from ANYONE. You are beautiful & you deserve a fulfilled life JUST AS YOU ARE #itgetsbetter."
