ION Television Acquires Law & Order: Criminal Intent

ION Television has added Law & Order: Criminal Intent to its programming lineup, it was announced Wednesday. The off-network acquisition gives the network access to all 10 seasons, or 195 episodes, of the crime procedural.

The news comes on the heels of ION’s recent acquisition of Numb3rs and a team-up with the WWE for an original series called WWE Main Event. Currently, the net airs original drama Flashpoint, as well as Criminal Minds, Cold Case and Leverage.

“Law & Order: Criminal Intent is a proven drama with a long-standing history as part of a highly successful 20-plus year franchise” said Brandon Burgess, CEO, ION Media Networks. “The addition of this popular series to our general entertainment lineup is yet another important piece to ION’s solid programming foundation.”

“Law & Order: Criminal Intent is a perfect addition to ION’s lineup and we are excited to extend our partnership with another series that resonates with their audience,” added Bruce Casino, svp, NBCUniversal Cable & New Media Distribution.

Law & Order: Criminal Intent follows the psychological approaches the Major Case Squad uses to solve the crimes. Created by Dick Wolf, this is the third installment of the Law & Order franchise. Executive producers include Wolf, Warren Leight, Peter Jankowski and Norberto Barba.

Criminal Intent aired on NBC for six seasons before moving to sister network USA. It ended in 2011.
